Mideast ‘Peace Partners’ Finally Taking Off Their Gloves
JERUSALEM — Amazingly, just when all four parties — the U.S., its allies in the Arab world, the Palestinian Authority, and Israel — seemed to have hit rock bottom in terms of the prospects of moving the region away from conflict and towards peace, all of a sudden everything seems to be pointing in the [...]
How Israel bought off UN’s war crimes probe
Jonathan Cook
[EI] Israel celebrated at the weekend its success at the United Nations in forcing the Palestinians to defer demands that the International Criminal Court investigate allegations of war crimes committed by Israel during its winter assault on the Gaza Strip.
The about-turn, following vigorous lobbying from Israel and the United States, appears to have buried [...]
Reem Salahi – Justifying Israeli War Crimes
Having left Gaza now, I am trying to come to terms with what I saw, what I heard and honestly, what I don’t think I will ever understand is the justification. While Israel’s recent offensive has been the most egregious of any historical attack upon the Palestinians in Gaza, it is just that, one of many. Gaza has been under Israeli bombardment and sanctions for many years. Prior to the Israeli pullout in 2005, Gaza was under the complete control and occupation of Israel. Nearly 8000 Israeli settlers occupied 40% of Gaza while the 1.5 million Palestinians occupied the remaining 60%. Settlements were located on the most fertile lands and along Gaza’s beautiful coastal regions and checkpoints prevented Palestinian mobility. Despite being one-fifth the size of Rhode Island, 25 miles long by 4-7.5 miles wide, Gaza was divided into three sections and Palestinians had to pass through multiple checkpoints to get from one section to the next. Often Israeli forces would close these checkpoints and not allow the Palestinians access to the other regions in Gaza as a form of collective punishment.
BBC ‘embedded’ with murderous Israeli commando unit
The following leaflet was handed to over 1,000 BBC staff over the weekend as they went into work.
It makes the point that their correspondent Andrew Herbert is participating in a war crime by being ‘embedded’ with this murderous unit. I’m sure you’ll agree after you have watched the report that this breaks all rules of acceptable journalism.
BBC Correspondent Participates in War Crime
Please read this paper…. Kitties are worth more than babies??
WRITTEN BY Vittorio Arrigoni in Gaza on January 9, 2009:
Take some kittens, some tender little moggies in a box”, said Jamal, a surgeon at the Al Shifa, Gaza’s main hospital, while a nurse actually placed a couple of blood-stained cardboard boxes in front of us. “Seal up the box, then jump on it with all your weight and might, until you feel their little bones crunching, and you hear the last muffled little mew.” I stared at the boxes in astonishment, and the doctor continued: “Try to imagine what would happen after such images were circulated. The righteous outrage of public opinion, the complaints of the animal rights organisations…” The doctors went on in this vein, and I was unable to take my eyes off those boxes, sitting at our feet. “Israel trapped hundreds of civilians inside a school as if in a box, including many children, and then crushed them with all the might of its bombs.
Francis Boyle – The United States Promotes Israeli Genocide Against the Palestinians
As long ago as October 19, 2000, the then United Nations Human Rights Commission (now Council) condemned Israel for inflicting “war crimes” and “crimes against humanity” upon the Palestinian people, most of whom are Muslims.
Rashid Khalidi – What you don´t know about Gaza
Nearly everything you´ve been led to believe about Gaza is wrong. Below are a few essential points that seem to be missing from the conversation, much of which has taken place in the press, about Israel’s attack on the Gaza Strip.
THE GAZANS Most of the people living in Gaza are not there by choice. The majority of the 1.5 million people crammed into the roughly 140 square miles of the Gaza Strip belong to families that came from towns and villages outside Gaza like Ashkelon and Beersheba. They were driven to Gaza by the Israeli Army in 1948.
ACTION ALERT: Spy for Israel
Yesterday Aljazeera Arabic TV showed the leaflet which Gazans awoke to find scattered everywhere by the terrorist Israeli air force.
After a long search for a copy of the leaflet, I finally found it on Ma’an News (a Palestinian news agency). The leaflet gave me an idea for action that might help our people in Gaza a little. Let’s read this leaflet first then follow the action.
The leaflet reads:
To the residents of the Gaza Strip,
Militarist Dad PROUD of his Natural Born Killer, it fulfils his "Israeliness"
WRITTEN BY MARY RIZZO
You really have to hand it to the Israelis, especially those who came from some other place first. In an article that romanticizes militarism, they see their participation in war as a fulfillment of their very essence of being. If the same article were written from a “Jihadi”, I wonder what the reaction might be. At any rate, not to tilt the scales of fantasy too far, I would like to simply address the article that Jewish immigrant to “Israel” has written to the Washington Post, and thank Nancy of www.umkahlil.blogspot.com for having brought it to my attention.
Kawther Salam – New Israeli Massacres in UN Schools in Gaza
The Israeli war criminals committed horrible massacres in the Jabalia refugee camp today Tuesday January 6 2009. They bombed many houses of Palestinian civilians, and the UN schools in the Jabalia and Rafah refugee camps, Killing more than 135 civilian and wounding more than 400, more than half of the victims were children and women.
The Israeli criminal forces fired deliberately at three UNRWA schools in gaza after the faculty administration of the UN schools informed the Israeli Authorities about the presence of hundreds of Palestinian civilians in these schools, who had fled from their homes and were using these UN schools as a shelter from Israeli strikes and the freezing winter weather. The Israeli criminals had also ordered the Palestinian civilians to leave their homes, and they were aware of where these civilian stayed when they bombed the places. It is a clear event of Genocide and ethnic cleansing according to the Palestinians testimonies.
