Deaths in Pakistan ‘US strikes’
A suspected US missile strike has killed at least seven people in Pakistan’s northwestern tribal region.
One missile hit a vehicle in the village of Wana killing four people, while another strike killed three in a nearby village, both in South Waziristan on Monday, Pakistani intelligence officials said.
“Tribesmen opened fire on the drones after the attacks,” a resident of Wana told Reuters news agency.
Truckers refuse to haul NATO, US supplies
PESHAWAR: Pakistani truckers are refusing to haul vital supplies to NATO and US forces in Afghanistan because of mounting attacks along the main route, a transporters’ association said Monday.
Pakistani troops recently began escorting convoys through the Khyber Pass to the border to protect them from Taliban ambushes. Western military officials insist their Afghan operations are not at risk.

The United States believes that India’s air force began preliminary preparations for a possible attack against Pakistan in the immediate aftermath of the recent massacre in Mumbai, CNN has learned.
One U.S. official said India’s air force “went on alert” following the attacks in Mumbai.

Taliban fighters volunteer to join Pakistan army against India
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (AP) — Taliban fighters battling Pakistani soldiers near the Afghan border volunteered Tuesday to fight alongside the army if war breaks out with traditional foe India over the Mumbai attacks.
Analysts say the offer is meant to fan the flames of anti-Hindu sentiment and draw support away from Islamabad’s fight against al-Qaida and Taliban militants in the tribal regions close to Afghanistan.
Two killed in attack on NATO supplies in Pakistan
Two drivers of trucks transporting supplies to Western forces in Afghanistan were killed on Monday in a grenade and gun attack near the Pakistani city of Peshawar, a transport company official said.
The trucks were parked at a terminal on the outskirts of Peshawar when militants fired rocket-propelled grenades at them, setting some of them on fire, police said.
