Volvo providing armored buses for Israeli settlements
Following reports published by The Electronic Intifada on the use of Volvo equipment in the demolition of Palestinian houses in 2007, the Volvo Group stated that it did not condone the use of its equipment for such purposes. Claiming to have no control over the use of its products, Volvo affirmed that its Code of [...]
Tariq Ramadan – In the Name of the Palestinians
Startling—and stomach turning : where Palestinians are involved, memory and sense of proportion fail us. The Jewish conscience, justifiably, has long called upon the world’s powers and upon their citizens to remain vigilant, never to forget -in the name of “the duty of memory”- the atrocities, massacres and genocides of the past. But where the State of Israel is involved, we are expected to set all sense of proportion aside, to leap to conclusions. Suddenly, it would be assumed that these are two equally powerful belligerents. After a six-month ceasefire, one of the two parties to the conflict (the Palestinians) is said to have broken the truce by unleashing its rockets. The victim of aggression (Israel) is acting solely in self-defense—if we are to believe the version sold to the world by Israel, and relayed by complacent and complicit Western media with the full support of the Bush administration and of many European governments. The bravest among them can barely bring themselves to point out Israel’s “disproportionate” reaction. What courage !
Mohamed Khodr – The Hanukkah Massacre in Gaza: The Sacrificial Lamb to Israeli-American-Arab Interests
“What thou hast done to thyself none else did,
Thou has caused pain to the spirit of the Prophet
Ignorant of the witchery of the Frank (the west),
Behold the mischief hidden in his sleeve!
By his diplomacy all nations prostrate,
Unity of the Arabs crushed to pieces,
As long as they are caught in his vicious trap,
The Arabs shall not enjoy a moment’s peace.”
–Muhammad Iqbal, famed Pakistani Poet, “The Glory of Iqbal”, by Shakyh Abdul-Hanan Ali Nadwi
“The Arabs are right when they paint America as a great Zionist conspiracy.”

Events of the Year 2008, What the dpa and their ilk Chose to Ignore
(in the photo, Israelis destroy Palestinian Olive groves, ruining the landscape and the economy)
Last week, while checking the local newspaper, I came across a typical “Main Events of the Year Chronology”. Usually, I usually try to stay away from such listings, because from experience, I know that the only news events connected with Palestine to be mentioned will be portrayed from a Zionist point of view. My eyes went immediately to the source of this list, hoping that it’s a local or non-biased one. But I was much disappointed to see that it was a list prepared by the dpa (Deutsche Presse-Agentur, German News Agency). This “Main Events of the year Chronology” is typical of German, and has a strong western bias (when it comes to the Palestinian/Israeli issue) and is a hypocritical (when it comes to criticism of the violations of human rights around the world) media.
Celebrities further disassociate with settlement financier
Thirty human rights carolers braved the cold and ice on 20 December to serenade Manhattan’s holiday shoppers with a call, for the second year, to boycott the jewelry store and companies of Israeli settlement-builder and diamond mogul Lev Leviev. Leviev’s Madison Avenue store has been the site of 12 protests since it opened in mid-November 2007, and protests against his businesses have spread to London, Dubai and the West Bank villages where he is building settlements. Additionally, during the past year the UN children’s agency UNICEF and the Oxfam coalition have renounced Leviev, major Hollywood stars have distanced themselves from him, and the governments of United Kingdom and Dubai are under pressure to boycott Leviev’s businesses.
